SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (AP) ? New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has reaffirmed to supporters that he isn't running for president, even as a speech he delivered at the Ronald Regan Presidential Library was likely to stoke fresh speculation about his White House ambitions.

The Republican governor warned that the nation's credibility abroad was being damaged by troubles at home. He charged that an indecisive White House has deepened the nation's economic pain, and he accused President Barack Obama of preparing to divide the country to win re-election next year.

Christie later said in a question-and-answer session that he was flattered by suggestions he run in 2012, but he added, "that reason has to reside inside me."

He urged a capacity audience of about 900 that included former first lady Nancy Reagan to look at the website Politico, which had pieced together a long string of video clips of him saying he's not a candidate for the White House.

"Those are the answers," he told the crowd.

In his speech, Christie didn't spare Congress as he delivered a scathing indictment of Beltway politics. He said the failure to compromise, along with Obama's lack of leadership, had set the country dangerously off course.

In Washington "we drift from conflict to conflict, with little or no resolution. We watch a president who once talked about the courage of his convictions, but still has yet found the courage to lead," Christie said.

"We watch a Congress at war with itself because they are unwilling to leave campaign-style politics at the Capitol's door. The result is a debt-ceiling limitation debate that made our democracy appear as if we could no longer effectively govern ourselves," he said.

Christie's appearance came during a three-day national trip in which the governor is raising money for Republicans and networking with party rainmakers.

With a reputation as a blunt-talking budget-cutter, the Reagan stage gave Christie the opportunity to extend his influence in a party that views him as a rising star.

Christie, the first Republican elected New Jersey governor since 1997, repeatedly contrasted Reagan's leadership skills with the dysfunction in Washington. Obama has positioned himself as a compromiser and deal-maker, but Christie cited his work in Trenton as the successful model, saying "leadership and compromise is the only way you reform New Jersey's pension and health benefits system."

He mocked Obama as "a bystander in the Oval Office" who was preparing to divide the nation along economic lines to win another four years in Washington, apparently alluding to the president's jobs bill, which proposes that wealthy Americans and big corporations pay more in taxes.

Obama is "telling those who are scared and struggling that the only way their lives can get better is to diminish the success of others," Christie said. He's "insisting that we must tax and take and demonize those who have already achieved the American Dream."

After the speech, Christie was asked repeatedly during the question-and-answer session if he would reconsider a presidential run. He declined, as he has many times before.

Lantie Jorandby, a 38-year-old physician from Florida who watched the speech, said she was unhappy with the GOP field and was eager to see Christie in the race. The registered Republican lamented the GOP presidential debates, calling them "a playground."

Mitt "Romney seems like a used car salesman. (Rick) Perry is out of his depth," she said. Christie "kind of has that Reagan-esque vibe."

Also Tuesday, his brother became the latest confidante to tamp down talk of a presidential bid.

"I'm sure that he's not going to run," Todd Christie told The Star-Ledger of Newark, N.J. The newspaper also reported that the governor told wealthy donors in Santa Ana that he was not entering the race, echoing his previous statements.

2????????????? Commit to the decision?whether it be food related or fitness.? Find something that resonates with YOU and what you like.? For example, I don?t like MEAT, so to attempt the Atkins diet would be ludicrous as I would not be able to stick with it!? Also I don?t like to run?.so I am not going to begin running.? Instead, I may choose to walk as my form of fitness.? Find something that makes your heart sing and commit to it.

Most people do not know where they are starting out nutrition-wise or calorie-wise so how can they know how to proceed and make necessary changes?? How do you incorporate daily exercise and activity into your busy life?

FITNESS IS a part of my life?just like eating good healthy food.? Because it is a priority I make the time!? Once I changed my attitude years ago from ?I HAVE to work out? to ?I DESERVE to work out? it became a natural part of what I do 6 days a week.? I like the way it makes me feel and it keeps my 54 year old metabolism healthy and efficient.

What are the steps you took to transform your health and lifestyle?

I was first introduced to RAW or ?Living Foods? when I went to Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida back in late 1999 and participated in their ?three week long Life Change Program?.? Prior to that time I thought RAW meant eating celery and carrot sticks and salads.? I didn?t understand the LIFE FORCE in foods that are uncooked or unprocessed. That experienced changed my life!? I have altered my food intake over the years to accommodate just about any foods but inevitably gravitate back to the RAW FOOD program for optimal health and energy.? Personally I am happy with a balance of 75-80% raw?. However for a 2 month period I had a raw food chef living with me in Arizona and I was the healthiest and leanest I have been in years!

Do you eat high fat raw or LFRV??

I eat a ration of usually 20% protein, 60% carbs and 20% fats.? At the moment, I am doing a 14 day RAW so my protein is most likely less.? My fats mainly come from nuts, avocado, olive oil and a product called PULSE- which are all vegan.? I am not vegan but gravitate more to that than eating animal fats.? Occasionally I use butter and eat feta cheese.

Do you eat raw and/or cooked?

Both.? My typical diet is 70-80% raw although this past year- esp. when the weather is cold- I have eaten more cooked foods like veggies, quinoa and brown grains?.occasionally fish? when doing the P90X fitness program I followed their suggestions and in order to get the % of protein in phase 1 I ate more proteins from fish, some chicken.? Didn?t like the way it made me feel!

What do you eat and/exercise in a typical day?

I love natural, organic shakes (smoothies- adding frozen fruits)?lots of salads and raw veggies, fresh fruits, nuts.? Sometimes salmon for dinner or a veggie bean patty.

Exercise includes cardio and free weights.

The past 6 months I have been very disciplined with my schedule as I had some specific health and fitness goals.? My schedule has altered slightly but this is what a typical day looks like for me.

Up and out of bed by 6:30 AM.? Although I often like to sleep later, this past winter my naturopath made that suggestion to increase my energy.? According to the Ayurvedic theory waking/getting up AFTER 6:30 AM puts you in a Kapha state, which is a much slower moving state.? Once I changed this my energy did in fact, improve.

This would give me a little nourishment, but not too much, for our morning workout, which is usually at 8 AM. By 1 PM I am at Snap Fitness, where I work as manager.? Each day is different and working with our members to reach their health and fitness goals.

This comprehensive study, which involved 600 interviews, provides evidence that increased opportunities for seniors to share meals with others will promote nutritional and emotional well-being. Key findings include:

• Two of five seniors who live alone have at least four warning signs of poor nutritional health.
• One in five seniors says he or she sometimes or most of the time feels lonely when eating alone.
• Seventy-six percent of these seniors eat alone most of the time.
• The biggest mealtime challenge for older people who live alone is lack of the shared family experience, including lack of companionship.
• Mealtimes last nearly twice as long when seniors who live alone share meals with others compared with when they eat alone.
• A majority of seniors who live alone say they eat more nutritiously and the food actually tastes better when eating with others.
• More than three-fourths of seniors say they wish their families shared more meals together.
• The most common obstacle preventing these seniors from sharing more meals with others is that their family and friends don?t have enough time.

As a result of this study, the Home Instead Senior Care network launched the Craving Companionship program to encourage extended families to bring back the family meal for the benefit of their seniors, especially those who live alone.

Ah, yes. Brain rage. Early-onset chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Insta-dementia. You know we are in full-on health-crisis mode when sportswriters are getting out their toy stethoscopes and offering long-distance, extrasensory diagnoses based on second-hand information. Glad to see we're subjecting the concussions story to the same scientific rigor that had reporters convicting ballplayers of 'roiding on the evidence of their Topps cards.

But enough about injuries. Let's talk Cam Newton, who hung 432 yards on the Packers a week after throwing for 422 against the Cardinals, and who got me wondering what kind of national orgasm we'd have experienced last year had Tim Tebow accomplished in a full game what Newton did in Sunday's first quarter. The Panthers' first possession unfolded like a point-by-point rebuke of everything bad anyone had ever said about Newton's abilities. The first play from scrimmage had him rolling out to his right and throwing on the move, like a shortstop, to the deep corner, where tight end Jeremy Shockey merely had to run under the ball. This was soon followed by a slant to Steve Smith requiring both the timing and touch Newton was said to lack, and then a tricky play-action in which Smith was the only receiver to run a pattern, and Newton had to sling the ball across the field from somewhere in the Piedmonts.

The Panthers eventually scored on a soft little fade that Newton lobbed off his back foot. He threw for 151 yards in all in that first quarter, and even if the mistakes started to pile up afterward?three very bad interceptions among them, not to mention a number of high throws that will one day get a receiver murdered?and even if ESPN's fancy new Total Quarterback Rating gewgaw came away wholly unimpressed, it was impossible not to appreciate all those molten gifts, here in just Newton's second game as an honest pro. At one point late in the fourth quarter, Newton danced out of pressure and, once again on the move, delivered a ball to Steve Smith that maybe four other quarterbacks in the NFL could throw. It traveled 60 yards in the air and left the color guy, Jim Mora, so discombobulated that he started inventing verbs on the spot. "Hucks it," I believe he said.

It occurs to me now that we really don't know anything about Cam Newton. Projecting quarterback play is a shaky science already, and with Newton we had only a single season of major college ball to work with. This is a rare event. We're so brutally overinformed about every aspect of every player in the NFL?hey, Terrelle Pryor scored a 7 on his Wonderlic!?that it's almost a relief to have an unknown quantity in our midst. For now, Newton's a quarterback to build a dream on. Keep hucking it, kid.
