Spy photographs of the Mercedes S-class have just appeared on the Internet ? thank God for Internet allowing us to know of things happening around the world and especially those that can effect the Non Status Cars market.

Although the S-class is set to be launched next year, photographs of it doing tests have been caught and the image above is probably the clearest you can get of the upcoming saloon. The new flagship saloon has been spotted before, but this image show us more of the elegant styling on the new S-class.

A lot has changed and so has the front end, with its design changed quite a bit from the S-class on the roads now. The design is also inspired by the newer Mercedes cars like the A-class. New and bigger headlights should feature as well as a more complicated looking front bumper. LED headlights are a standard feature.

Mercedes has always been using the S-class at a platform to showcase their technological marvel and this new S-class will be as high-tech as ever. Infotainment touchscreens and digital dash are probably nothing new to people now, but the S-class will also be equippe with a 6D vision to detect pedestrians and cyclists behind the car. A Magic Body Control system will detect the conditions of the road ahead and ride comfort will be adjusted accordingly.

The S-class will have a choice of either V6 or V8 engines with both being direct-injection ones. The AMG version will be powered by a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine. With emission requirements becoming more and more stringent, the V12 will probably be binned. A plug-in hybrid powertrain will propel the car from 0-62mph in no more than six-seconds but still lets you enjoy more than 80mpg fuel economy.

When Spring 2013 approaches, the new Mercedes S-class will make its debut and sales should start the following year. Be sure to have ?60,000 in your reserves because this is how much this car will cost and while the Non Status Cars that MSG offer usually don?t go as high as this you could well be the exception.
