HTC Omega spotted in the wild on Algerian auction site?

Just a few days after its renders first leaked, the HTC Omega has apparently been spotted in the wild, on an Algerian auction site, of all places. French blog Mon Windows Phone claims that the rumored Mango device may sport a Snapdragon MSM8255 1.5Ghz processor, 512MB of RAM and a 3.8-inch LCD, though it's hard to glean too many specifics from the blurry images featured on the auction site. The blog also spotted an eight megapixel camera around back, along with that front-facing shooter that Microsoft's been touting, while the listing claims that the phone boasts up to 8GB of storage capacity. The white-and-gray Omega is rumored to debut at this week's HTC event in London, though details on price and availability remain unclear (the highest online bid, for what it's worth, is currently at around $540). Hit up the links below to see the full array of images.

[Thanks, Gilles]

WASHINGTON (AP) ? The head of America's emergency response agency says people shouldn't underestimate the danger once Hurricane Irene passes.

Federal Emergency Management Agency chief Craig Fugate says flooding, weakened trees and downed power lines pose a danger even after the storm moves north up the Atlantic Coast.

Fugate is urging people not to drive around and sightsee after the storm has passed through their areas. His advice: Stay inside, stay off the roads, and let the power crews do their job.

Fugate made the round of the Sunday talk shows as the storm moved through New York City and the Northeast.

Perryphobia (Politico)

A wave of fear has come over Washington ? and it?s not the earthquake or the hurricane. Self-appointed Republican elites, fretting Hill Republicans and left-wing carnival barkers all have one thing in common: Perryphobia.

It?s an acute condition, with different manifestations. But it has the same root cause ? arrogance toward Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Let?s start with the left, because that?s easy. Liberals ? roughly 20 percent of America, fortunately ? are generally very willing to tell you that they know more than you do. If you don?t believe that, try a field experiment today and you will see.

But liberals don?t just talk the talk, they walk the walk. They pursue policies that can put enlightened government people in charge of, well, just about everything. People cannot be trusted with their own money, or to make their own decisions ? we know better how to use it for the good of all.

Anyway, the arrogance of the left is easy to prove. And it is even easier to prove that they are in full-out Perryphobia. A random sampling of left-wing oracles this week produces these gems: Ed Shultz calls him a racist; Rachael Maddow says he wants to ?lynch? Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, and Chris Matthews insists that ?he looks like a clown.?

Now for Hill Republicans, whoever they are. A Politico story, ?Rick Perry?s loose lips worry Hill Republicans? put Perryphobia on full display.

Humorously, it is quite likely that the congressmen and staffers quoted in the article believed that they were in some way injuring Perry?s chances. Even funnier, the colorful Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) warned Perry of the danger of words. Google his name and see what you find.

Let?s get this straight ? with Congress being as popular as cholera, they think they are going to hurt Perry?s chances by dissing him? Really? Congress is at an all-time low, according to a new Gallup poll, with only 13 percent of Americans approving of ?the way Congress is handling its job.?

The fact is that a candidate seeking support from actual humans who vote would be smart to distance him or herself from Congress ? and cholera.

My old boss Haley Barbour, now Mississippi governor and former Republican National Committee chairman, used to tell candidates he is advising, ?I?ll help you however I can, even if that means attacking you.? Maybe that?s what they are doing?

It has become fashionable in Capitol Hill Republican circles to say, ?I?m just not sure that America is ready for another Texas governor.?

Who knows? Time will tell.

Chile leader wants talks; 1 dead, 1,400 arrests (AP)

SANTIAGO, Chile ? After three months of mass protests that provoked a sharp drop in his popularity, Chilean President Sebastian Pinera agreed Friday to negotiate with students and teachers demanding more state funding for education and profound changes in government.

Pinera, who leads Chile's center-right political coalition, made the call for dialogue as people recovered from a two-day nationwide strike called by the country's largest union organization. As students, teachers and pot-banging families around the country joined in, the strike turned into a huge protest against his 18-month old government.

Most marchers were peaceful but scattered violence marred the protests, and a 16-year-old boy was shot to death early Friday, allegedly by a police bullet, as officers responded to looting and riots. Nearly 1,400 people were arrested nationwide, and more than 200 police and civilians were injured.

"After more than three months in which we've seen violence and conflict flourish, now is the time for peace, the time for unity, the time for dialogue, the time for agreements," Pinera said.

He took care to invite representatives of all the sectors involved ? students, teachers, parents, professors and those who run the nation's schools and universities ? and say that education reform talks should take place in the presidential palace as well as Congress.

That represents an about-face for Pinera, who had avoided talking directly with protesting students or openly considering their demands before sending his 21-point package of education proposals to Congress.

The students had their own list when they began taking over high schools and universities three months ago, from more state funding to better teacher training, and a guarantee of free quality education to all Chileans. But their demands grew to include a new constitution to replace the top-down political system dictated by Gen. Augusto Pinochet's regime, and popular referendums to give Chileans a direct voice in their democracy.

Union organizers of the nationwide strike added their own list, including major changes to pensions, health care and the labor code.

Camilo Ballesteros, student president at the University of Santiago, praised Pinera's overture.

The student leader at the University of Concepcion, Guillermo Petersen, credited the movement's pressure for changing the president's mind, but said it remains to be seen how willing Pinera will be to make real concessions.

Students planned to decide this weekend how to respond. The presidents of Chile's House and Senate, representing leftist and rightist parties, had offered to sponsor negotiations, but Pinera and the students were both leery of participating.

Neighbors blamed the death of Manuel Gutierrez on police gunfire. Deputy Interior Minister Rodrigo Ubilla suggested the boy may have died while confronting police, and said the case should be clarified quickly.

Union members estimated that 600,000 people participated in Thursday's marches nationwide. Police offered no nationwide numbers, but estimated far lower crowds in Santiago. What is clear is that some isolated student boycotts have grown to become Chile's largest mass movement since democracy was reestablished in 1991.

Libya rebels' government moving to Tripoli

(AP Photo/Giulio Petrocco)

(AP) ? The Libyan rebels' interim government announced it is moving from the country's second city to the capital Tripoli, another step toward taking control, as heavy fighting raged around Moammar Gadhafi's last stronghold early Friday.

Before daybreak, rebels exchanged heavy fire with fighters loyal to Gadhafi who have holed up in residential buildings in the Tripoli neighborhood of Abu Salim, a regime stronghold. Smoke rose from the area of Abu Salim, and heavy machine gun fire and loud booms were heard across Tripoli before dawn.

Gadhafi is still on the run, but a minister in the rebel government said his capture is not a prerequisite for setting up a new administration in the capital.

"We can start rebuilding our country," Finance Minister Ali Tarhouni of the National Transitional Council told a news conference late Thursday. "He (Gadhafi) is the one who is basically in the sewer, moving from one sewer to another."

Even with his regime in tatters, Gadhafi has tried to rally his followers to kill the rebels who waged war for six months to bring down Libya's ruler of 42 years.

"Don't leave Tripoli for the rats. Fight them, and kill them," Gadhafi said in a new audio message broadcast on Al-Ouroba TV, a Syria-based satellite station.

Since sweeping into Tripoli on Sunday, the rebels have been struggling to take complete control. On Tuesday, they took Gadhafi's sprawling government compound, Bab al-Aziziya, and have also been battling for control of the nearby neighborhood of Abu Salim.

The fight for Abu Salim has been particularly bloody. Bullet-riddled corpses from both sides sprawled on the ground.

Outside Bab al-Aziziya, there was another grim scene, one that suggested execution-style killings of civilians.

About two dozen bodies ? some with their hands bound by plastic ties and with bullet wounds to the head ? lay scattered on grassy lots in an area where Gadhafi sympathizers had camped out for months.

The identities of the dead were unclear, but they were in all likelihood activists who had set up an impromptu tent city in solidarity with Gadhafi in defiance of the NATO bombing campaign.

Five or six bodies were in a tent erected on a roundabout. One of the dead still had an IV in his arm, and another body was completely charred, its legs missing. The body of a doctor, in his green hospital gown, was found dumped in the canal.

It was unclear who was responsible for the killings.

Despite the chaos, members of the National Transitional Council announced they are moving the rebels' interim government from the eastern city of Benghazi, which fell to rebel forces early in the conflict, to Tripoli.

"In the name of the martyrs ... I proclaim the beginning ... of the work of the executive office in a free Tripoli as of this moment," Tarhouni told reporters.

"I have a final message for everyone who is still carrying arms against the revolution," he said, "to let go of their arms and go back to their homes, and we promise not to take revenge against them."

AGLIFF24 MOVIE REVIEW: OFFBEAT | Austin Gay & Lesbian ...

Premiering at the Berlin International Film Festival and winner of a Teddy Award, 28 year old Jan Gassmann, directed (and co-writen with Max Fey) his powerful debut feature film, Offbeat, bringing to the screen a new contribution to gay movie characters. This powerful documentary styled drama set in the world of Zurich Switzerland?s underground rap scene is utterly absorbing and brilliantly acted from start to finish. I?m thrilled to say that of the 190 films I have review for aGLIFF24 this year, this is my personal number 2 film festival pick.

Filmed on a 6 month timeline from November thru April, Lukas, played by Hans-Jacob Muhlthaler, who incidentally wrote all the songs, gives a breakthrough performance of a rapper who defines himself by his romantic relationship with his manager Mischa, (Dominico Pecoraio) 20 years his senior, and the rap music he creates. What?s also impressive is that it presents a gay rapper in a very normal matter of fact way while conveying the seriousness of this love story.

The film opens as Lukas and Mischa enjoying a lazy afternoon in bed on vacation in Italy. Quickly, the vacation is over and they are back in a bleak, cold, Swiss winter and in the underground clubs of the Zurich?rap scene. Lukas? limited success as a rapper and Mischa?s resistance to go public with their love affair, affects their relationship and Lukas? insecurities-leading to one of many alcohol and drug-induced binges, eventually overdosing and landing Lukas in the hospital. Mischa has had enough and ends their relationship for good.

It will take months for Lukas to get over the breakup. Without rap and Mischa, Lukas is totally lost and is unable to figure out who he is or what he wants out of life and left with no choice, moves back in with his mother and younger brother. His brother Sami, a.k.a. rapper Samsonite, (Manuel Neuburger) has a difficult relationship with his older brother Lukas but hopes to become a successful rapper in his own right someday.

Rap is used as a background character, articulating an internal dialogue as poetry to express Lukas? feelings that he otherwise would have difficulty in expressing. The rap lyrics are sharp, biting, inventive, and impressively well written making you wish you knew the language to hear the rhythm and the rhyme that reflect the pulse of this film.

With Lukas gone, Mischa looks to Sami as a potential new rap star and begins helping to develop his talents and career. One night while Sami is performing in a club, Lukas interrupts the show and attempts to show his younger brother who?s the better rapper, in a rap showdown that cuts each brother to the core.

This film will help you appreciate rap as an art form as well as a means of self expression. Ultimately, this is a story about a complicated relationship and complicated relationships issues. The story is dark, and sophisticated with bold and honest dialogue setting a new bar for originality and directness in a gay film. There is nothing ?OFF? about this film what so ever and director Jan Gassmann will have a stellar career ahead of him as a film maker.

The Director, Jan Gassmann send his greeting to aGLIFF24 and his personal insight into the making of his film Offbeat.

?This film has been very important to me, since it?s been my first long ?fiction? film. I?m coming from the documentary side of filmmaking and I really wanted to implement that in my fiction work. So most of the actors were non-professional but could really relate to the subject. It was a long way of writing this film together with Max Fey. On the set we were improvising the dialogs, even though they existed in the script. It was about creating a real scene, a moment that felt realistic. We worked almost only with natural lightning and tried to live that story during the shooting of 2 months. The actors even lived on the set, sometimes. It was also important that the story felt realistic, made up from a lot of experiences and feelings we had
at the beginning of writing. It?s a story about someone trying to become an adult. He develops in his music, in his relationships with Mischa, his ex-boyfriend and with his brother. So maybe the whole film
only shows a small step in a life of a random guy, but for me it was important to tell this small story, instead of showing someone saving the world. From the point of view that the film is being shown at a
Gay and Lesbian Film festival I want to say, that for us it was always important to show the fact of Lukas being gay as something very normal, which is complicated, but as something coming out of real
life. As one part of his life, next to others. So it?s definitely not a movie about the fact of being gay, but it is a very important part in it. While writing we had the impression that it shouldn?t be treated as something special. He?s a rapper, maybe gay, maybe bisexual-in a way we think it is not that important, because ultimately we are talking about love. He is heartbroken and trying to get his life fixed. But some things can?t be fixed so easy. Music is his way to do it.?

The feature is preceded by the short film Tell Me A Memory, a sweet, elegant yet ultimatey heartbreaking story of a man trying to hang onto his love. The story is of Jack dealing with his much older lover?s deterioration due to Alzheimer?s. It is a touching film with a subject matter very relevant.

Asian stocks muted after Japan credit downgrade

(AP) ? Asian stock markets wavered Wednesday after Moody's downgrade of Japan's credit rating and weak U.S. home sales figures offset positive sentiment from a day of big gains on Wall Street.

Oil prices hovered below $86 a barrel amid mixed signs about the strength of demand for crude. In currencies, the dollar was higher against the euro and steady against the yen.

Japan's Nikkei 225 index fell 0.6 percent to 8,678.07 after opening higher. But South Korea's Kospi was little changed at 1,775.73. Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 0.8 percent to 19,714.52.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was 0.4 percent higher at 4,189.70. Markets in Singapore and Taiwan fell while benchmarks in Indonesia, Malaysia and mainland China were higher.

The mixed trading in Asia came despite a strong day on Wall Street.

"I am quite surprised most of Asia is down because we had a powerful rally on Wall Street," said Dariusz Kowalczyk of Credit Agricole in Hong Kong. "But somehow, we are seeing some risk aversion. It may be related to the fact that there are declines in regional currencies and perhaps foreign investors are continuing to withdraw funds from the region."

He also said negative data about new home sales in the U.S. on Tuesday may have rattled investor nerves in Asia.

"Perhaps Asian investors have concluded that when the outlook for the U.S. is not that good, the outlook is not that good for Asia either," he said.

Sentiment was also dented after Moody's Investors Service downgraded Japan's credit rating to Aa3 from Aa2, citing weak growth prospects for the world's No. 3 economy, massive government debt and constant political uncertainty. The new rating is three notches below Moody's top Aaa rating.

The downgrade, which puts Moody's rating in line with other major credit rating agencies, is the latest blow for Japan after its economy remained mired in recession in the second quarter due to tumbling factory production and exports following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

Mining shares sank after prices for gold and some other metals slipped on Tuesday. Rio Tinto Ltd. lost 0.7 percent in Sydney. Australia's Newcrest Mining Ltd. was 0.6 percent down. Zijin Mining Group, China's largest gold miner, lost 0.3 percent.

Australia's Macarthur Coal Ltd. rose 1 percent after announcing it had nearly doubled its full year profit and repeated its advice to shareholders to reject a takeover offer from U.S energy giant Peabody Energy Corp. and Luxembourg-based steelmaker ArcelorMittal.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong-listed China Life Insurance Co., the country's biggest life insurer, plummeted 11.6 percent after announcing its first-half profit fell 28 percent from a year earlier as premium growth slowed and claims rose. Ping An Insurance Co. of China also fell. It was down 3.6 percent.

In New York on Tuesday, buyers returned to the stock market, searching for bargains on the heels of better-than-expected manufacturing activity out of China and hopes that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke may unveil new steps to help the economy when he speaks at an annual economic conference later this week in Wyoming.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed with a gain of 3 percent at 11,176.76. Indexes that track smaller stocks did even better, a sign that investors were more willing to take on risk. The S&P 500 index rose 3.4 percent to 1,162.35. The Nasdaq composite, which tracks mainly technology companies, rose 4.3 percent to 2,446.06.

Benchmark oil for October delivery was up 29 cents to $85.73 in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Crude rose $1.02 to finish at $85.44 on Tuesday.

In London, Brent crude for October delivery was down 5 cents to $109.26 on the ICE Futures exchange.

In currencies, the euro fell to $1.4413 from $1.4423 in late trading Tuesday in New York. The dollar was little changed at 76.66 yen.

Affiliate Business Opportunity ? The Road To A Profitable Online ...

As an ongoing approach to create revenue opportunities, affiliate business opportunity has captured the

imagination and a focus of plenty of entrepreneurs over the last decade. Here is

some background on the event of affiliate business opportunity and the way it continues to

evolve today.

At its core, affiliate business opportunity is all about getting consideration for a superb or service by

using on-line assets that are managed by companions or affiliates. Essentially the most simplistic

of all these strategies is permitting advertising to be displayed on a web site that is the

domain of the affiliate.

Usually, the advertisement will permit the potential customer to click on and be

redirected to a page or website the place there is more data and the prospect to order the

good or service in question. In return for offering a doorway for that buyer to

uncover the product of service, the affiliate is rewarded with compensation, normally via

digital switch or check.

The idea of affiliate business opportunity is a natural outgrowth of the net advertising that

sprang up in the early years of widespread Web use. At first, online advertising was

more of a business to enterprise method, since companies were the first to jump on the

Internet bandwagon. Putting up a web page and sending emails out to solicit business

was a cheap approach to collect new business clients.

As Web use began to spread into the house, a variety of corporations began to see

that working with owners of private web sites would be an effective way to promote items

and providers with little or no in the way in which of funding in marketing resources.

The trick was to make the idea enticing to individuals, so they?d be interested in

permitting firms to advertise by their web sites. Out of this need to come back up

with a technique that might attraction to a big physique of individuals, the fundamentals of affiliate

marketing have been developed, and still continue to shape the course of affiliate packages

today.

J.G. Wentworth Life Settlements LLC Announces ... - Finance In The UK

J.G. Wentworth Life Settlements LLC Announces Licensing to Purchase Life Insurance Policies in Ohio and Georgia

Bryn Mawr, PA (Vocus) February 12, 2008

Specialty finance company J.G. Wentworth today announced that it is licensed to purchase life insurance policies, or life settlements, from consumers in Ohio and Georgia, bringing the total number of states in which it does business in life settlements to 36, plus the District of Columbia.

Through its J.G. Wentworth Life Settlements LLC unit, the company provides liquidity options to consumers holding life insurance policies with a face value of more than $ 50,000, an underserved segment of the life settlements market overall.

With more than $ 18 trillion of life insurance in force, and over $ 4.6 billion of life insurance premiums written in Ohio in 2006(1) and $ 3.8 billion of life insurance premiums written in Georgia in 2006(1), the life settlements segment is by far the largest component of the illiquid financial assets market, in which J.G. Wentworth already has leadership positions in the structured settlement and annuity segments.

?Life insurance remains an important financial asset for most families,? said Michael Goodman, CEO of J.G. Wentworth. ?For many, the policy is literally insurance against the loss of income for growing young families. For many others,? he added, ?the need for that insurance has changed over the years, and J.G. Wentworth strives to provide an attractive option for consumers looking to diversify their portfolios, liquefy their assets or sell a product that no longer meets their financial needs.?

Scott Willkomm, Head of J.G. Wentworth Life Settlements, says that the company is coming at the life settlement segment from a completely different angle than many of its competitors. Rather than focusing on large life insurance policies of $ 5 million or more, J.G. Wentworth is buying policies of $ 50,000 or more. ?There are more than 350 million life insurance policies in force today and the vast majority of them are for $ 500,000 or less, which we can reach with our direct-to-consumer model.?

Willkomm added that not only are smaller policies the biggest piece of the market, but by addressing this segment, J.G. Wentworth will bring liquidity to individuals that once only the very wealthy were able to enjoy. ?Too many people view their life insurance policy as a monthly or quarterly obligation that they have to pay. We?re trying to change hearts and minds and to get people to recognize that their life insurance policy is really a financial asset and, like all assets, can be sold according to the needs and wants of the owner.?

Life Settlement services are offered through J.G. Wentworth Life Settlements, LLC and J.G. Wentworth Life Settlements (DE), LLC. Not licensed in all states.

This opportunity is currently open to persons resident in the following states: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, DC, DE, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WA, WI, WV and WY.

Dating Online? Watch That Ad! ? Dating & Relationships Articles

New to Online Dating? Trying to find the man or woman of your dreams through the Virtual World? You need to have a Good Personal Ad or Dating Profile

Some people don?t believe me when I tell them that most problems with not enough Responses to your Ad can be fixed just by writing a better Ad. And then I often take them, real-time, to an Online Dating Site. I randomly start reading out profiles, and they cannot believe that so many people write such terrible ads! Maybe it is this overvalued notion of spontaneity, of writing whatever comes to your mind, letting it flow, being you ? which leads you to write gibberish in your ads. Say goodbye to any success in Online Dating with that. Think what would happen if NASA Engineers became spontaneous.

So stop your Dating shuttle from crashing and read these examples of common Mistakes in Dating Profiles. Have a laugh, but be careful, your own profile may have bugs too! (All examples are real)

..?I am a funny, witty person?.?

Funny and witty people never write that directly. Instead of saying this, add a touch of humor to your profile.

..?I was just bored, so wrote my profile here??

A negative attitude. Instead, say, ?I am new to this??

??I am an Honest, Spontaneous, Creative, Intelligent (..other personal adjectives) ?person.?

Very few people think they are not, so this is very subjective (same as the fact that 80% people believe that they have an IQ above average!). Even if true, it is redundant information at best. Avoid using personal adjectives in your Ad or Profile.

Define yourself concretely-better to say I am a Guitar player in a Band or I write Novels or I am a practising Doctor than I am Creative or Intelligent.

??I want a guy who can make me laugh??

Comes across as negative-you sound slightly depressed if you need someone just to make you laugh. Theres plenty of stuff on the TV to make you laugh, and you are not looking for a joker, you are looking for a boyfriend, a mate?remember?

??I like dark haired men, but if you are blond and good-looking, write me anyway, maybe you can change my mind?.?

Turn-off to blond men. Make up your mind, if you are looking for only dark haired men, just say that. Dont play both sides of the coin, generally backfires. Better not to say anything if you are not sure.

??I like taking walks by the ocean, or watching TV, or going camping with my friends??

Unimportant details. Most people like these things, and these are hardly important details in finding a partner (it is unlikely you wont like going out with someone just because they dont like walking the beach or watching TV with you) . Your hobbies is where you put these things, and more specifically-e.g. Camping, or Watching Basketball.

??I am sexy, flirtatious,? I like kisses on my back, full body massages from my boyfriend/girlfriend??

Generally speaking, keep the sexual innuendos out. You will have plenty of time to exchange many raunchy emails if you are addicted to writing sexual stuff? but in the first impression, keep it out. Think about it this way-would you say this to a guy or a girl in a bar who you meet for the first time? If not, then dont say it in your Ad either.

??I am looking for a REAL man/woman, with all the letters of REAL??

Everyone is real. Basically, dont worry, sounds like you have had some bad experiences in relationships, but thats over now. Come with a positive attitude to Online Dating, and just meet the people. Then when you email them and meet them in person, you can decide if they are real or not.

??I am not interested in guys who are bitter and boring??

No one is. Use the Ad mostly to tell what you like, not what you dont like. Agreeability is a must have in first introductions.

EU expands Syria sanctions, moves towards oil embargo (Reuters)

BRUSSELS (Reuters) ? European Union governments agreed on Friday to expand the number of Syrian officials and institutions targeted by EU sanctions and laid out plans for a possible oil embargo, EU diplomats said.

The moves against Syria's government reflect a significant stepping up of pressure against President Bashar al-Assad by the EU and the United States, in response to violence against protesters contesting the four-decade rule of Assad's family.

The United States and the EU, along with the governments of Britain, France and Germany, called on Thursday for Assad to step down. Major states had until then urged him to reform rather than leave.

However, the EU appeared to move with more caution than Washington, which coupled Thursday's calls with a ban on U.S. citizens from operating in or investing in Syria and a prohibition against U.S. imports of Syrian oil products.

At a meeting in Brussels, EU ambassadors agreed to add 15 people and five institutions to a list of entities already targeted by EU asset freezes or travel bans. The new lists will be subject to formal approval early next week.

They also asked the bloc's diplomatic service, the EEAS, to prepare plans for further measures.

"Ambassadors invited the EEAS and the European Commission to develop options for further sanctions ... notably a potential oil embargo," one diplomat said.

NEW STEPS

The EU's 27 governments have already subjected 35 individuals, including Assad, to asset freezes and visa bans and targeted military-linked firms tied to the suppression of dissent.

New plans could include companies linked to the regime, not only those involved in repression, EU diplomats said. They could target banking and telecommunications, as well as oil.

Europe has taken an incremental approach to Syrian sanctions in recent months, with some EU governments concerned about harming their commercial interests and long-term relations with the government.

Firms like Anglo-Dutch Royal Dutch Shell and France's Total are significant investors in Syria.

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said there were very strong reasons for an oil embargo.

"What one always has to put in the balance is to make sure it doesn't hit ordinary people to a too large extent," he said.

"In the situation in which we are now, it is important to send the strongest possible signal."

Real Estate Marketing, Web Design, and SEO | Net Shop Manager

There are numerous real estate marketing ideas out there today that an agent can utilize in order to maximize profits. ? The internet is one of the main ways marketing can be done, mainly because of the huge amount of traffic that comes along with the web.

Although the task may seem simple, it is not always so easy for a real estate agent to market him or herself.

The following steps make it easier to get your name and business out there in order to become more successful and increase your sales.

Specialties are very important in the real estate field because it provides buyers with a sense of comfort because they know that with a specialty, the agent knows exactly what he or she is doing.? Advertisements are an excellent way to let potential clients know of a specialty.

The relationships that have been formed from previous sales are very important to an agent?s business. Follow ups are required in order to maintain these relationships. These follow ups are usually best done via email.?? Some agents use a simple newsletter marketing strategy to keep their name in front of their client base.

Other people in the real estate field are starting to use text message marketing with great success.

An agent can also increase their client base by creating and using web design packages for his or her business.

Using websites allows the business to go worldwide for a very little price. Websites should feature a simple design with enough information to interest a potential buyer, not deter them or make them read too much.

Just having a nice website isn?t enough though.? You are either going to have to learn about or pay someone to do your search engine optimization. ? With proper SEO getting on the first page of search results is just a matter of time.

With proper SEO the website will have an increase in the amount of viewers it receives on a daily basis, which will ultimately increase the amount of clients an agent has.

If you don?t have the patience to wait for your website to rank high in the search results you can always just pay to have your ad listed on the first page.? Depending on what keywords you use to advertise your site this can get very expensive in a hurry though, so plan your budget accordingly.

Sometimes just one new idea can really make your business take off.? Have you considered using vinyl lettering as a marketing strategy?? Whether you pay for an inexpensive window design for your office to look more professional, or go all out with a vinyl vehicle advertising wrap this type of business promotion can really make you stand out.

In the UK welfare state, single motherhood is passed from mother to ...

Robert Stacy McCain has the whole story.

Excerpt:

Say hello to Soya Keaveney, shown in a bikini photo she posed for at age 12, when the British girl was featured in a July 2008 magazine article:

Wearing a skimpy bikini and flaunting herself in an overtly sexual manner, Soya looks every bit the wannabe glamour model. . . .
Soya never goes out without putting on eyeliner and mascara, although once at school she?s often told to remove it by her teachers. Shockingly, she also frequently wears padded bras, short skirts, cropped tops, high heels and fishnet tights.

And now, the sequel:

A SCHOOLGIRL who posed aged 12 for controversial bikini pictures in a magazine is now pregnant at 15 ? to the joy of her mum. . . .
Soya got pregnant by a 17-year-old boyfriend who is allowed by Janis to stay overnight at the family home.
Jobless single mum Janis, 48, said she was delighted because the council will now have to give her a bigger house. . . .
She added: ?Our three-bedroom place was already overcrowded with her sisters Coco and Ritzy, her brother Tarot, Soya?s boyfriend Jake and one of her sister?s babies.
?Once the new baby comes the council will have to find us a place with four or five bedrooms. . . .
?I?m sure she?ll make a wonderful mum and will teach her children discipline like I have.?

So ?mum? Janis, 48, has apparently never had a husband or a job, and lives with her four children, one of them already herself a mother and the other now pregnant by the 17-year-old boyfriend whom Janis permitted to spend the night in their 3-bedroom public housing apartment. All of this social pathology is subsidized by the British taxpayer!

But there?s more. I just posted about this single mother of ten children who is receiving ?30,000-a-year in benefits.

Excerpt:

A mother-of-ten who nets more than ?30,000-a-year in benefits has begged for charity donations to help raise her brood ? because her state ?wage? is not enough.

Moira Pearce, 34, has insisted her weekly government handout of ?600 is insufficient to feed and clothe her children and she needs donations to survive.

The single mum ? whose kids are fathered by four ex-partners ? has insisted her range of child and family allowance benefits do not meet her weekly outgoings.

Her annual payments funded by the public purse work out at a staggering ?31,200-a-year ? or ?3,120 per child.

Ms Pearce ? who lives with unemployed ex-boyfriend Mark Austin, 19, seven daughters and three sons ? now wants extra help to save her from going under.

Recall another recent story I posted about that has yet another example of single motherhood by choice ? subsidized by the feminist welfare state.

Excerpt:

She tells her children to do as she says and not as she does.

But the words of mother of 14 Joanne Watson ? who receives more than ?2,000 a month in state handouts ? have fallen on deaf ears.

Her 15-year-old daughter Mariah is pregnant, the father has ?left the scene?, and the youngster is about to start living off benefits.

Mrs Watson, 40, is raising her giant brood alone after parting from her husband John, 46, three years ago, and breaking up with subsequent partner Craig le Sauvage, 35, last year.

Despite this, she has still managed to squirrel away enough cash for a ?1,600 breast enhancement and a sunbed. She claims she has always encouraged her daughters to use contraception ? but, inevitably, it seems they would rather follow the family tradition.

Mariah?s pregnancy comes after Mrs Watson?s oldest daughter Natasha, 22, got pregnant with her son Branford, now six, when she was 16. Her second eldest daughter Shanice, 19, also got pregnant at 16 with her 22-month-old son Marley.

Mariah says she has no concerns about becoming a teenage mother, as it seems the most natural thing in the world. Initially, she and her child will be supported by the taxpayer.

She is expected to move into a housing complex for single mothers and will receive supplementary benefit and child allowance for her baby.

The youngster, who is due to have a boy, said: ?I?m not nervous. I?ve been around babies my whole life so I know what to expect and that I can handle it. The father isn?t involved and I don?t want him to be either. I?m really excited and think I will be a great mum.?

And studies show that this is being passed on from mother to daughter.

Excerpt:

Girls who grow up without their fathers are at more at risk of becoming pregnant while still teenagers, long-term studies in the US and New Zealand suggest.

Researchers say the absence of biological fathers from the home is the most significant factor for teenage pregnancy.

The link between a father?s absence and teenage girls having sex has long been noted, but many researchers have attributed it to factors associated with divorce such as poverty and family conflict. But the new findings suggest the link is more direct.

The study?s author, Bruce Ellis, said: ?These findings may support social policies that encourage fathers to remain in families with their children.? This would not apply to families with high conflict or violence.

Dr Ellis, who teaches at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, said the findings warranted serious attention in Australia, which has the sixth highest teenage pregnancy rate in the world, according to an article published Medical Journal of Australia last month.

Dr Ellis worked with teams of scientists from the Christchurch School of Medicine and three US universities. Nearly 800 American and New Zealand girls were tracked from early in life to age 18.

The study revealed that the earlier a father left, the greater the risk of teenage pregnancy. Rates increased from about one in 20 in the US sample and one in 30 in the NZ sample for girls whose fathers were present, to one in three in the US and one in four in NZ for girls whose father left early in their life. Early absence was defined as the first five years of a girl?s life.

Girls who grew up in otherwise socially and economically privileged homes were not protected, Dr Ellis said.

When a woman grows up in a home where money is delivered by government check, she has no idea what men are for. She chooses men solely based on physical appearance, popularity, and peer approval, and she has no idea what love really looks like between men and women. That?s why they repeat the mistakes of their mothers. And it?s not a problem that can be solved by confiscating more money from working fathers and giving it to single mothers ? even wealthy single mother homes are not immune. If men are not seen as protectors, providers and moral/spiritual leaders in the home they grow up in, then they will choose ?bad boy? predatorial men as sexual partners, using shallow criteria to judge them ? like the 180-second rule. This is exactly what feminism dictates, since feminism denies that men have the traditional sex roles of protector, provider and moral/spiritual leader. Young women growing up in single mother families have learned to resent men who make exclusive truth claims, especially about religion, and exclusive moral claims, too. They prefer the moral relativist men, who have postmodernist/universalist views of religion. The only difference in men that they know is strictly on physical appearance ? what else are men supposed to do other that look good and be fun?

I think that this social trend is most reasonably blamed on Labor Party MP Harriet Harman, the most anti-family, anti-marriage, anti-father politician the UK has ever seen. Her militant feminist policies have taken money away from working fathers in intact marriages in order to redistribute it to women who choose to have premarital sex and then to get pregnant out of wedlock. This is now considered ?normal? in the UK, and it?s because of Harriet Harman?s feminism-inspired push against traditional marriage, which she views as sexist. It is no surprise to anyone in the know that the fist generation of militant socialist feminists would raise the first generation of unmarried mothers. Single motherhood is the direct result of feminism ? they want to replace men with government handouts.

Read more to find out more about how fatherlessness harms children, and leads to child poverty and child abuse. We have to stop this, and the only way to do that is to get informed and to persuade others. We can?t continue to hurt children like this.

Best Film Schools in the world

INDIA

Whistling Woods International:

Despite being home to the world?s largest film industry, just five years ago India was in need of better-equipped film institutes. Enter veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who launched Whistling Woods International, Asia?s largest film, TV, animation and media arts institute. Located on 20 acres in Mumbai?s Film City studio complex and sponsored by Ghai?s Mukta Arts (which has produced some of Bollywood?s biggest hits), WWI?s faculty is headed by dean John Jerome Lee, a former entertainment industry executive. Its advisory board includes acclaimed director Shyam Benegal and superstar Shah Rukh Khan, DreamWorks Animation?s Shelley Page, ?Elizabeth? director Shekhar Kapur and producer David Puttnam. ?Almost 80% of people working in the industry don?t have professional training and hence end up learning on the job, which was the impetus for us to launch WWI,? says Ghai?s daughter, Meghna Ghai Puri, who is also WWI?s president. ?It offers a unique, two-year MBA in media and entertainment (for) people who want to be executives in areas such as marketing and finance.? Specializations include directing, cinematography and editing, along with animation and acting. Tuition is about ,900 for the two-year program.?

Australia

The Australian Film, Television and Radio School:

The Australian Film, Television and Radio School has undergone some significant changes in the past two years, including the move to a new state-of-the-art campus in Sydney?s film hub and an overhaul of the courses it offers to students and established industry practitioners. The 37-year-old national film school, funded annually by the Australian government with million last year, holds a key position in the Australian film community with more than 2,000 graduates passing though its doors in that time. AFTRS alumni include Oscar-winning cinematographers like Dion Beebe (?Nine?) and Andrew Lesnie (?The Lovely Bones?) and director Jane Campion (?Bright Star?). An array of courses covering producing, digital media and visual effects, art direction, documentary, screenwriting, screen music, production design and editing are offered, but at the heart of the school are its award courses for new and emerging filmmakers. They include a foundation diploma, a graduate certificate and graduate diploma. Positions in those highly competitive courses are given each year on a merit system based on students? creative portfolios.?

FRANCE:

La Femis

Only 3% of hopefuls who take the entrance exam get into la Femis, the country?s most prestigious film school. Housed in Pathe?s old studios on Paris? rue Francoeur, la Femis is a public institution under the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, meaning tuition is free to French students. It offers a well-rounded overview of the film business, including artistic development and technical training. Alumni include the creme-de-la-creme of French filmmaking, from Louis Malle, Alain Resnais and Costa-Gavras to newcomers like Francois Ozon, Laetitia Masson, Noemie Lvovsky and Rebecca Zlotowski. In their first year, students are initiated into all aspects of production before specializing in a specific field chosen from seven main departments: directing, editing, sound, set design, cinematography, screenwriting and production. ?More than 500 professionals come each year to give special classes or speeches,? says Marine Multier, head of communications. ?This helps our students succeed in the professional world after they leave.??

GERMANY

Baden-Wurtemberg Film Academy

While most European film schools focus on film history and the philosophy of cinema, at Baden-Wurtemberg they roll up their sleeves and get to work. When Roland Emmerich wanted a team to wipe out humanity for 1996?s ?Independence Day,? he went to the Baden-Wurtemberg Film Academy. Emmerich?s friend Volker Engel, who taught animation there, recruited 14 students and graduates who would go on to win the 1997 Oscar for visual effects. Known for its practical approach to filmmaking, the academy is a leader in animation and visual effects training. In 2007, trade magazine 3D World ranked it the second-best animation college in the world, just behind France?s Supinfocom. The school fields regular nominees in the student Oscar race and has twice won the honor. Tike Constantin Hebbeln got it in 2006 for ?Nimmermeer? and Thorsten Schmid in 1998 for ?Rochade.? On-the-job experience is a key part of the academy?s teaching. Baden-Wurtemberg only admits students who have at least one of year of practical experience in the film business and two years for its producers program. The academy also works to expose students to an international network of filmmakers by organizing exchange programs with partner institutions like New York?s School of Visual Arts and Poland?s National School of Film and TV in Lodz. Every year, Baden-Wurtemberg also organizes a Hollywood workshop, including studio tours and internships with production companies in L.A.?

ITALY

Scuola Nazionale di Cinema ? Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia

Michelangelo Antonioni, Dino De Laurentiis, Vittorio Storaro and Italian screen icon Claudia Cardinale are just a few of the famous names who began their film education at the Centro Sperimentale, the oldest and most prestigious film school in Italy. Once accepted by the school?s highly selective board, acting students study with leading man Giancarlo Giannini, cinematography students learn from Giuseppe Rotunno (Fellini?s lenser on 1983?s ?And the Ship Sails On?) and would-be directors work with helmer Roberto Faenza (?By the Light of Day?). Connected to the Cineteca Nazionale, one of the biggest film archives in Europe, the CSC regularly organizes seminars with international filmmakers, from Martin Scorsese to Wim Wenders. While continually upgrading its state-of-the-art equipment, Centro?s tuition is a very reasonable at ,000 per year for the two- and three-year programs. ?One of Centro?s peculiarities is its total effort in involving the students in all the movies made by CSC Production, and introducing graduates into working crews,? says dean Andrea Crisanti.?

JORDAN

Red Sea Institute of Cinematic Arts:

Offering the first and only MFA program in cinematic arts in the Middle East and North Africa, RSICA is a joint venture between the Royal Film Commission of Jordan and the School of Cinematic Arts at USC. Located in historic Aqaba (which any aspiring filmmaker should recognize from ?Lawrence of Arabia?), RSICA launched in 2008, graduating its first class of 21 students in May 2002. With tuition in the ,000 range, the school is another step forward for Jordan, which has garnered Hollywood?s attention recently through an aggressive campaign to expand its burgeoning film sector. ?Jordan is by far the most progressive and secular regime in that region,? says James Hindman, dean and chief academic officer. ?They started developing a media plan in 2003 which included a very active, western-style film commission as well as training for crews.? With students coming from all over the region, including Lebanon, Kuwait, Syria and Iran, Hindman says the goal is to offer practical training that will allow them to ?function on any film set in the world.? ?We want them to be able to eat,? he adds with a laugh.

UNITED KINGDOM
